Google Pixel 5 is experiencing a system volume issue where notification tones become uncomfortably loud, according to some users. The issue is also affecting volume levels when playing videos on the Pixel 5. Google has yet to officially acknowledge the issue. Thus, it is not clear if this could be fixed via a software update or if the problem stems from a hardware constraint. Several Pixel 5 users have complained about the volume issue on the web.
According to user reports On Google’s Pixel Phone community forums, the system volume issue affects users in two distinct ways. Firstly, it decreases volume levels randomly while playing videos on the Google Pixel 5. Secondly, it increases system sounds such as tones and screenshot alerts among others.
The issue was initially reported by some Google Pixel 5 users in late October. However, some users also complained about the same issue on Reddit earlier this month.
An affected user pointed out that even factory reset the phone does not fix the problem. Abnormal audio levels also remain in place after adjusting them with the volume slider. Nevertheless, some users have mentioned that the volume of system sounds becomes normal after activating vibrate or silent mode.
“With every new Pixel phone, we strive to improve volumes to make sure customers don’t miss out on important phone calls and notifications. On Pixel, the ringtones and notifications settings are linked, so these volume changes affect both of these settings. Thank you for your feedback on these settings and we will strive to make improvements in future updates to the Pixel 5, ”the rep wrote.
However, Google has yet to say whether a software patch can be provided to resolve the issue.
The system volume issue isn’t the only issue on the Pixel 5 which debuted early last month as Google’s new flagship phone. Shortly after its launch, some users noticed that the phone had a gap between its screen and bezel. Google recognized this issue and called it a “normal part of the design” that wouldn’t affect the phone’s water and dust resistance. Some users have also reported issues with placing the Pixel 5 on the Pixel Stand. Google has yet to comment on these issues.
