Puducherry reports 27 new cases of Covid-19 bringing the total number of UT cases to 1,29.52

Chennai: The Union Territory of Pondicherry has recorded 27 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 1,29,527, a senior health ministry official said on Sunday. No deaths were reported in any of the four regions, health department director G Sriramulu said in a statement.

The 27 new cases were identified after examining 562 samples and were spread over Pondicherry (19), Karaikal (six) and Mahé (2). Yanam, an enclave in Pondicherry in Andhra Pradesh, did not report any new infections, the director said.

The number of active cases stood at 150 with 38 patients in hospitals and the remaining 112 in home isolation. As many as 13 patients have recovered and been discharged in the past 24 hours as the total number of recoveries has risen to 1,27,496.

Sriramulu said the death toll remained at 1,881 as no deaths were reported in Union territory in the past 24 hours. The test positivity rate was 4.80%, while the death and cure rates were 1.45% and 98.43%, respectively.

The Ministry of Health has so far tested 20 52 131 samples and found 17 41 082 negative. The department administered 13,97,207 doses of which 835,950 were first doses while 5,61,257 were second doses.
